Next, there’s another key ingredient, liquor - sounds grand doesn’t it? Well, it should - it’s the elixir of life or water as it’s more commonly known and unsurprisingly it’s an essential ingredient in the brewing process. The salt and mineral composition of the water used can have an effect on the resulting product and most brewers treat their water to add or add-back salts lost during ‘mashing’ which are desirable for the brewing and fermentation processes.
