We pride ourselves on using only the finest quality raw materials. So what goes into making our award-winning brewery’s perfect pint?
At Andwell’s we use only the finest floor-malted English barley to produce our beers. Most of our malts are supplied by Warminster Maltings who have been producing malted barley for brewing since 1879. A number of the farms local to the brewery put their barley crops into Warminster for malting. Malting means adding water to the barley to allow the grains to germinate and begin to break down into their component sugars, cellulose and proteins. Although some aspects have been improved and modernised, the process remains largely unchanged since the nineteenth century - malt is still turned on malting floors by rakes pushed by hand.
